Privacy Policy
Octopus English runs two short forms on this site — one to ask a question, one to sign up for lessons. This page explains what happens to the information you type into them, in plain language rather than legal wording.
Who is responsible for this data
Octopus English is run by a named individual rather than a registered company. This is who's responsible for the data collected on this site:
- Magdalena Gurbowicz
- [POSTAL ADDRESS NOT YET AVAILABLE]
What we collect
The enquiry form asks for your name, your child's age or group, a phone number or email address, and your message. The sign-up form asks for your child's name and age, a parent's phone number or email address, which course you're interested in, and any notes you'd like to add. Both forms are filled in by a parent, and both collect a child's name and age.
Why we collect it
Only to reply to your enquiry and to arrange lessons: checking availability, placing your child in a group, confirming a start date, and getting in touch with you about their classes. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't send marketing email.
Why this is allowed
You choose to give us this information by submitting one of the forms, and we use it to do what you asked — reply to you or arrange the lessons you signed up for.
Who else sees it
Two outside companies handle this data on our behalf, as processors, not as separate owners of it. Netlify, based in the United States, stores every form submission and sends us the notification email. Hostido, based in Poland, hosts the mailbox that email arrives in. Nobody else sees what you submit — the site runs no analytics and has no advertising or other integration that could read it.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and does no tracking, profiling or automated decision-making. Even the fonts are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google or anyone else, so simply opening a page on this site sends no data anywhere.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and sign-ups for 12 months after your last contact with us, then delete them. Netlify, the company that stores form submissions for us, doesn't delete anything on its own — this only happens because we do it by hand, on that schedule.
Your rights
Under Polish and EU data protection law, you can ask us to:
- Let you see the data we hold about you (access)
- Correct it, if anything is wrong (rectification)
- Delete it (erasure)
- Limit how we use it (restriction)
- Stop using it for a particular purpose (objection)
- Give you a copy in a format you can take elsewhere (portability)
To ask for any of these, write to the contact address above.
If you're not satisfied
You also have the right to complain to Poland's data protection authority, the Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO), if you believe we have handled your data incorrectly.
